Livingston have become the latest team to confirm their intention of voting against the introduction of a Conference League.
A vote on the plans for a 10-team Conference League to sit below League Two will take place tomorrow at the SFA’s Annual General Meeting and has been met with opposition from many teams as well as being fiercely unpopular with supporters.
Under the plans, four B Team, four Lowland League teams and two Highland League teams would form a new fifth-tier in time for the 2024/25 season with B teams paying a fee to be part of the league whilst also being exempt from both promotion and relegation.
The move would effectively relegate all teams currently in the fifth tier and below - which includes a dozen West Lothian sides.
A Livingston statement read: “Livingston FC can confirm that the board and senior staff at the football club have considered the proposal from the SFA in regards to the introduction of a Conference League at Tier 5 of the game and will be voting against the creation of such.”
