Livingston boss set to welcome back striker for Aberdeen 'cracker'

Livingston boss David Martindale insists striker Bruce Anderson is fighting fit and ready to down the Dons.

The former Pittodrie man hobbled off injured a fortnight ago during the Lions’ Scottish Cup loss against Inverness and missed last week’s clash with Rangers.

But the 24-year-old looks set to start this weekend when Livi travel north to Pittodrie hoping to boost their top-six chances.

They head into the contest sitting three points ahead of the seventh-placed hosts but with a game in hand, with Martindale tipping the clash to be a ‘cracker’.

Speaking to the Courier, he said: “Bruce will be back. I could probably have gotten away with playing him against Rangers, but he hadn’t really trained at all and I didn’t want to push him and then he ends up missing four weeks because he’s played when he’s not fully ready.

“It was a long-term decision not to play him but I do think he was a big miss.

“I don’t actually usually start him in those types of games but if he was fit, he’d have started. He’s been on top form and I think that with the way we had the ball in and around their box on Saturday, he would have caused Rangers plenty of problems.”

He added: “He’s been training well at the start of this week and had no adverse reactions at all so he should be good to go for Saturday. I think it has the potential to be a cracker of a game to be honest.

“It’s a big game for both teams and the two of us will be going all out to get the win.”
