Livingston boss David Martindale is hoping his team can pick up the points tonight away to Ross County in what he calls a ‘huge’ game for the club.
If results go their way, the Lions could jump into the top six for the first time all season but the gaffer knows it will be no easy task.
The two sides have met in both league and cup action within the last two months with a 90th minute equaliser earning Livi a draw in the league and a penalty all that separated the two sides in the Scottish Cup.
So Martindale is under no illusions that it will be a walk in the park - but he does believe a victory could turn out to be pivotal for their top six hopes.
Speaking to the Courier, he commented: “It will be a difficult game, you just need to have a look at some of their recent results to see they’re an improving side.
“I think a lot of that is down to Malky McKay. It shows his coaching credentials because they’ve been getting stronger as the season has gone on.
“Players take a lot of credit but it speaks volumes about the management, too.
“This is a huge game for us. We go up there as the underdogs but we’re doing everything possible.
“We stayed the night and we actually booked the hotel about eight weeks ago because something was telling me that this could be a pivotal game in the season.
“Don’t get me wrong, it’s not catastrophic if we lose, but if we win and results go our way we could be in the top six and then it would be up to us to fight and scrap and give everything we’ve got to stay in that position if we get there but we’re more than capable of doing that.
“From where we were sitting three months ago, that would be some achievement.
“The aim is obviously safety and to stay in the league but these potential three points are huge for both teams.”
