Livingston boss David Martindale says he’s confident he will have a new keeper in place prior to the club’s Premiership opener against Rangers next weekend.
The Lions are running the rule over two trialists in this afternoon’s bounce game against Carlisle United while the manager admits he’s in contact with ‘two or three’ clubs about other options.
Our sister paper Daily Record is reporting that one of the keepers on trial is former Birmingham City stopper Connal Trueman.
Speaking to the West Lothian Courier, Martindale said: “We’re still actively in the market for a keeper and we’ve got two with us on trial just now who are part of the team for today’s game.
“I’m also in touch with two or three clubs about possibilities as well and I’m hopeful we can get something over the line before the start of the league season.”
Last week Martindale admitted he was unhappy with the performances of both Max Stryjek and Ivan Konovalov during pre-season and the opening Premier Sports Cup games.
He said: “I’m looking for another goalkeeper. Both have made big mistakes in pre-season and I’m not willing to go into another season without an established number one.
“Both of them have been told in no uncertain terms that I need more from them and they’ve both got more in their locker.”
