Livingston boss believes mixing it with Hearts shows club's growth in recent seasons

Livingston boss David Martindale admitted he was satisfied with his team’s display in their goalless draw with Hearts - and says the fact the Jambos have failed to win any of the three encounters between the sides this season shows how far the club have come in recent season.

A Shamal George double save just after the interval from Garang Kuol was the best chance of an otherwise forgettable game at the Tony Macaroni Arena, with Steven Bradley seeing his lob hooked off the line at the other end with the home side’s best effort.

It extended Livi’s unbeaten run to six games and sees them hold a two-point advantage in fourth spot over Hibs.

Martindale said: “That’s us taken five points from Hearts in three games. I think for a club of our size, that’s testament to how far we’ve come as a football club.

“Hearts, for me, are the third best team in the country. They’ve battered a few teams this year and scored plenty of goals.

“There wasn’t a lot in the game. Both managers are probably disappointed not to win but not hugely disappointed that they’ve come away with a clean sheet and a point.

“That’s six undefeated and we’ve got Joel (Nouble) coming back on Wednesday. We’re in a good place collectively and I think we’ve added a bit more consistency to our game than last year.”
