Livingston 1 Hibs 4 as Lee Johnson's men pay perfect Ron Gordon tribute - three things we learned

Hibs honoured their late chairman Ron Gordon with a stunning 4-1 over Livingston.

Lee Johnson's side sit just five points behind Hearts as they chase their rivals third spot and maintain their unbeaten league run. Hibs took to the field in East Lothian for the first time since the sad death of their American owner. Players wore a special black away top dedicated to chairman 'Ronald J Gordon' in a touching tribute.

Hibs bounced back from an early goal down to secure a dominant win, with Ellie Youan at the double against Livingston side who finish the game with nine men. David Martindale's men took the lead through Joel Nouble but Hibs quickly responded thanks to a quick-fire double from Youan who netted on the half hour mark and seven minutes later added his and Hibs second.

In the second 45 Hibs came to life and took control of the game after Livingston's Jack Fitzwater saw red. The man advantage paid off with Hibs going two in front thanks to an own goal from Stephane Omeonga. Mykola Kukharevych finished off the scoring taking the three points back to Easter Road.

Here is three things we learned as Hibs put on a show for their late chairman.

Remembering Ron Gordon

Today was a reminder that some things are bigger than football.

Hibs remembered their late chairman Ron Gordon throughout today's match at the Tony Macaroni.

Ahead of the match players wore tributes on a special training top with the message "May the sunshine of Leith, shine on you always Ron," and a message on the back which read: "RIP Ronald J Gordon, August 1954 – February 2023."

For the match an all black change kit was worn with the number 68 etched onto the players shorts.

It was a fitting tribute from the club who are in mourning.

Youan's the man

Confidence can be everything in football and for Ellie Youan it seems everything he touches turns to goals.

That is five in five for the Hibs striker on-loan from St Gallen.

His first was a great darting run as the forward showed his athleticism to burst forward in behind the Livingston defence and slot home.

The second was a powerful shot that took a lucky deflection on the way in.

The powerful front man is his hitting glittering form as Hibs continue to push on.

Race for third

Another big win today, Hibs third in a row has completely turned their fortunes around.

They spent most of the first half of the season looking down but now they are looking up with Hearts straight ahead in third.

After some horrendous results against their Edinburgh rivals they only sit five points behind.

This week they'll be dreaming of narrowing that gap, with the Tynecastle side heading to Celtic Park on Wednesday whilst Hibs welcome Rangers.

And on their current form you wouldn't put it past Lee Johnson's men to spring a surprise against the Ibrox club.
