As chosen by our judges, a panel made up of Livingetc’s senior editorial team. Global brand director Sarah Spiteri, Global editor in chief Pip Rich, deputy editor (digital) Hugh Metcalf and deputy editor (print) Ellen Finch sifted through all the many, many entries.

Brass and alabaster stone combine to create an elegant design – and the timeless silhouette makes this piece perfect for a cosy corner in a living room.

‘This has the feeling of a classic library lamp in the best possible way – it’s utter sophistication in lighting form,’ says Sarah Spiteri.

BEST LIGHT - winner: vesper by Lee Broom

Inspired by the simple geometry of Brutalist architecture and modernist cathedral lighting, the Vesper light is available in two forms, Duo and Quatro – each making a similarly strong statement wherever they hang.

‘I’m drawn to the architectural quality of this light – and typical of a Lee Broom design, it is a genuine piece of art in its own right, and, I’m sure, a future collectible,’ says Ellen Finch.

BEST PENDANT LIGHT - wise buy - winner: Ruzo by lights&lamps

Porcelain takes centre stage in this delicate, sculptural pendant.

‘We’re big fans of lights&lamps and admired the versatility of this piece – I can see it hanging over a dining table in a Victorian townhouse just as easily as a living room of a modern new-build,’ says Pip Rich.

BEST TABLE LAMP - wise buy - winner: Kirsten ceramic table lamp by Marks and Spencer

The sell-out lamp of the season adds a hint of whimsy to any interior. It works equally to add charm to an urban space or a little modernity to a more rustic scheme.

‘Tapping straight into the trend for playful design we’ve seen in the last couple of years – and at under £60 – this lamp was an easy “yes” from us,’ says Hugh Metcalf
