Liverpool youngster Lewis Koumas is reportedly embroiled in a 'tug of war' between England and Wales regarding his international future.
The midfielder turned heads for the Reds' under-18 setup this season, scoring 13 goals in the Premier League’s youth league while registering five assists. That form saw him earn a professional contract in January following his 17th birthday.
Wales are keen to call Koumas, son of former international Jason, up for their under-19 double-header against Sweden this month. Representing the Dragons would not prevent him from representing England, his country of birth, at senior level.

The Daily Mail claim Welsh legend Gareth Bale - recently retired following a stint at LA Galaxy - is a keen admirer. England hope to name Koumas in their under-18 squad for upcoming fixtures against Norway and Australia in Lisbon.
Academy coach Marc Bridge-Wilkinson raved about the wonderkid’s potential in March, insisting it was a group decision to move him from midfield to the frontline. He said: “It wasn’t just me who made the call to play him as an out-and-out number nine.
“We spoke about it as staff and it was a discussion we had in pre-season about whether the position would suit him best. He is good at running, he is full of energy and enthusiasm and his running off the ball is really intelligent. He can also finish.
“We just thought let’s give him a go there and felt it was something he might enjoy, which he certainly is. He was scoring goals, getting chances and ultimately playing consistently well.”
