Liverpool have made changes for the FA Cup fifth-round meeting with Norwich at Anfield later today.
Following the Reds’ Carabao Cup final triumph over Chelsea, which lasted 120 minutes and required all 11 players to take a spot-kick, Jurgen Klopp could be forgiven for fielding a weaker team on Merseyside.
Liverpool have not enjoyed a midweek off since the end of January and face crucial games with West Ham, Inter Milan, Arsenal and Manchester United before the next international break.
Therefore Klopp has given chances to the likes of Divock Origi, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the fifth-round tie.
Thiago Alcantara is out after his late withdrawal from the Carabao Cup starting line-up, which led to the midfielder watching on from the Wembley sideline in tears.
Klopp said on Tuesday: “He's fine again. But not fit. We don't know exactly how long [he will be out]. For the weekend, not sure. Maybe Milan? But after that, definitely.”
Diogo Jota passed a late fitness test to make the bench on Sunday and now returns while Roberto Firmino missed out.
Liverpool starting XI: Alisson; Milner, Gomez, Konate, Tsimikas; Jones, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Minamino, Jota, Origi.
