Liverpool XI vs Arsenal: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury and Covid latest for Carabao Cup today

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will not face another reunion with former club Arsenal in the Carabao Cup tonight.

He suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s 3-0 Premier League win over Brentford and, while Liverpool are hopeful he faces only a short-term lay-off, has been ruled out of the semi-final second leg at Emirates Stadium.

With Oxlade-Chamberlain missing and Thiago Alcantara still out injured, Curtis Jones gets a start in midfield alongside Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

Assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders said on Wednesday that Liverpool have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the game, which is largely reflected in their lineup.

They will remain without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, who are both away at the Africa Cup of Nations. In their place, young Kaide Gordon is included from the off.

But Jurgen Klopp named a strong lineup for the first leg, which ended 0-0 at Anfield last week, and has done so again.

Liverpool predicted XI: Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Jones, Gordon, Firmino, Jota.

Thursday 7.45pm GMT, Sky Sports

Venue: Emirates Stadium

Referee: Michael Oliver
