Liverpool XI vs Ajax: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Champions League today

Liverpool are without Andy Robertson for a number of weeks after the defender suffered a knee injury during last week’s loss away at Napoli.

The Scotland international has become the latest in a long list of injury concerns this season, with Fabio Carvalho and Jordan Henderson also ruled out as Jurgen Klopp’s side face Ajax in the Champions League later tonight.

Curtis Jones is also unavailable, further limiting Klopp’s options in midfield, with Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the sidelines.

Thiago Alcantara, however, made his return during the defeat to Napoli, and he starts for the hosts, with Harvey Elliott joining him in midfield. Fabinho sits in front of the defence as expected.

Diogo Jota has recently ramped up his return to full fitness and he starts up front, with Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino both having to settle for places on the bench. Joel Matip partners Virgil van Dijk.

Having fallen to a heavy defeat in Italy hours after Ajax thrashed Rangers in the same group, the pressure is on Liverpool at Anfield.

Starting XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas, Fabinho, Thiago, Elliott, Díaz, Salah, Jota.

Subs: Adrián, Davies, Gomez, Milner, Firmino, Núñez, Carvalho, Arthur, Bajcetic, Phillips
