Liverpool weather: plenty of sunshine as warm temperatures return

Merseyside enjoyed a short but sweet few days of warm weather last week, but it looks as though those temperatures could be returning.

After a cooler weekend, it will become sunnier throughout Monday and it will remain mostly dry. The Met Office predict the weather will warm up through the week.

Temperatures are expected to hit 22C today, Monday, June 20, with plenty of sunshine and only light winds expected. Tuesday will be another dry day with highs hitting 23C. It may be cloudy in some areas, but no rain is forecast.

Remaining dry with plenty of warm sunshine on Wednesday and Thursday, and turning warmer. It may be cooler on Friday with showery rain possible, though no heavy downpours are expected.

BBC forecaster Chris Fawkes, said: "For those of you wondering if the hot sunny spell last week was our summer, don't worry, this week's looking pretty warm as well. We're gonna draw in milder winds dragging in air that has originated from North America - that milder air will be pushing in behind a warm front. It's gonna feel warm in that sunshine."

He added that Wednesday may bring highs of up to 28C across England and Wales, Mr Fawkes said: "In the north and west where it does stay a little bit cloudier, temperatures generally more into the high teens."
