The Met Office has issued a "danger to life" thunderstorm warning for Liverpool.
The region has basked in s corching sunshine over the past week as summery weather arrived on Merseyside. However, conditions are set to make a drastic turn as a yellow alert is in force today.
A warning had been issued yesterday across the North West of England - with Cheshire most affected. However, forecasters have now extended the alert to include Merseyside.

The warning is in place until 23.59pm and forecasters expect the torrential downpours may cause travel disruption and, in a few places, flooding.
The forecasting agency also warned there is a small chance fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life. It added: "There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services. Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
"There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost. There is a small chance that some communities become cut off by flooded roads."
The full forecast for today reads: "It may be cloudy at times across the north during the morning, otherwise it will be a generally fine and sunny day. A few isolated showers or thunderstorms may develop late afternoon onwards.
"Very warm and feeling locally hot inland. Maximum temperature 29 °C."
