Liverpool weather: Heavy rain before sunny skies for the Bank Holiday weekend

Much of Merseyside will see outbreaks of rain over the coming days.

Heavy rain is forecast today, on Wednesday, August 24, with showers expected for most of the morning, into the afternoon. However as the August Bank Holiday approaches, it's set to become drier and sunnier.

The Met Office predicts that there'll be quite an unsettled week, with an Atlantic influence to the weather leading to a varying forecast. Temperatures will remain warm, around the 20C mark with the wet weather leading to some humid moments.

Thursday is expected to be hay due to cloud cover and isolated showers are also expected. Heading into the long weekend a few showers are possible, again, but it will be warmer with sunny spells.

In the latest Met Office Week Ahead forecast Alex Deakin said: "There’s more uncertainty than usual in the weather, if you do have plans this week then please do keep up to date as the day-to-day details will be varying."

Deputy Chief Meteorologist, Helen Caughey said: "There will certainly be more sunshine around for many over the weekend however it is unlikely to be entirely dry. There is a risk of heavier showers initially in the far south or southeast to start the weekend, with cloudier and wetter weather at times in the northwest through Saturday and Sunday."
