Liverpool vs Real Madrid: Karim Benzema hits out at Reds and Mo Salah in Champions League rant

Karim Benzema has claimed Liverpool supporters are getting over-confident ahead of Saturday's Champions League final with Real Madrid.

The two sides will go head-to-head at the Stade de France in Paris in a repeat of the 2018 final where Benzema capitalised on a goalkeeping error to score in a 3-1 win for Los Blancos that clinched the Spanish side's record 13th European Cup.

Liverpool are appearing in their third Champions League final in five seasons and come into the game as slight favourites, but French striker Benzema has wasted no time lighting the blue touch paper, suggesting that Reds fan think they will run away with it.

Speaking to Movistar, he said: "Liverpool have a lot of confidence. They think they have already won the match, maybe.

"Maybe they think this isn’t the same Real Madrid as last time, these things.

"Maybe they think they’re favourites."

Benzema, now 34, have enjoyed a superb season for Madrid, scoring 44 goals including 16 in the Champions League.

Liverpool's top scorer, Mohamad Salah has extra incentive for a Reds victory, having been forced off injured in the 2018 contest after clash with Sergio Ramos.

Salah has gone on record to say that he is out for revenue, but Benzema has battered away the Egyptians claims.

Benzema added: "Salah can say what he wants, but this is a different game."
