Liverpool vs PSG LIVE: Champions League result, match stream and latest updates today

Liverpool vs PSG LIVE!

Liverpool’s Champions League campaign is over for this season after they suffered an agonising last-16 exit at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night. Reds substitutes Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones both saw efforts saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma as PSG triumphed 4-1 in a one-sided penalty shootout, Desire Doue delivering the knockout blow after a 1-0 win for the visitors at Anfield that levelled the tie at 1-1 after Ousmane Dembele’s early goal against the run of play cancelled out Harvey Elliott’s late smash-and-grab winner at the Parc des Princes last week.

Next up for Luis Enrique and PSG is a two-legged quarter-final date with either Aston Villa or Club Brugge, with the Premier League side currently leading that tie 3-1 ahead of Wednesday evening’s second leg at Villa Park. It felt like a major missed opportunity for Premier League champions-elect Liverpool, who have to quickly dust themselves down ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final clash with Newcastle at Wembley.

Their attempts to claim the first piece of major silverware this season may not be helped by injuries to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate, who both limped off against PSG.

Liverpool vs PSG highlights

  • Donnarumma saves shootout penalties from Nunez and Jones
  • Konate limps off for Liverpool in extra time
  • Liverpool lose Alexander-Arnold to injury before Carabao Cup final
  • NO GOAL! Szoboszlai effort ruled out for offside
  • GOAL! Dembele levels tie early against run of play

Full-time in extra time

A penalty shootout will be needed to decide this heavyweight Champions League last-16 tie.

Hold on to your hats, folks.

Will it be in front of The Kop or the noisy 3,000 travelling PSG fans?

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:32 , George Flood

121 mins: And that should be that in extra time as Vitinha’s poor ball flies well wide of the back post.

Penalties are coming at Anfield.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:32 , George Flood

120 mins: One minute of added time signalled and PSG have a corner after Nuno Mendes’ effort is blocked behind.

Goncalo Ramos is finally on for Joao Neves.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:31 , George Flood

119 mins: PSG are moving the ball around slowly in the Liverpool half but Luis Enrique wants to get Goncalo Ramos on here ahead of the likely penalty shootout.

The ball ends up at the feet of Alisson. Still Ramos waits...

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:29 , George Flood

117 mins: Hakimi’s shot is blocked and another low attempt from Lee fails to unduly trouble Alisson.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:28 , George Flood

116 mins: The slightly farcical nature of the modern offside law in full effect there as PSG play on despite their man being an absolute mile off before the flag is belatedly raised.

Pacho with a little bit of hesitation inside the PSG box but he does get his bearings to shut the door on Nunez.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:27 , George Flood

115 mins: Salah takes on Nuno Mendes one-on-one and is caught by a hand to the face by the Portuguese, hitting the deck but now up on his feet with the chance lost.

Lee’s low effort at the other end is easily saved by Alisson.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:25

113 mins: Doue has looked lively for PSG since coming on and now flashes another warning shot wide of Alisson’s post.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:22 , George Flood

110 mins: Konate goes down twice in a matter of moments for Liverpool, he’s really struggling.

Another major injury blow in defence for Slot before the Carabao Cup final.

Yet another fine save that was from Alisson in this tie to deny Dembele, by the way.

Wataru Endo is coming on for Liverpool as their additional extra-time sub as Konate hobbles off.

That really doesn’t look good either but he tries to rally the home crowd as he limps away.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:20 , George Flood

109 mins: A really dangerous ball into the Liverpool box falls safe before Alisson gets down low to turn behind an effort from Dembele.

Like in the first half of extra time, PSG making the stronger start in a bid to avoid the agonising lottery of spot-kicks.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:19 , George Flood

108 mins: A couple of hopeful drives from PSG, the first blocked and the second easily held by Alisson.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:16

Half-time in extra time

15 minutes away from penalties at Anfield.

The tension is growing and growing.

First-leg hero Harvey Elliott is coming on.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:14 , George Flood

104 mins: Nuno Mendes gets a little shove from behind from Szoboszlai and falls over the leg of Jones.

PSG substitute Lee lets the ball run behind, seemingly unaware that it’s come off a team-mate.

PSG defend the resulting corner with 10 men as Van Dijk and Quansah both get up to pile the pressure on Donnarumma, who punches away once more and gets a free-kick.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:09 , George Flood

101 mins: Luis Enrique takes off Kvaratskhelia as Lee Kang-in comes on for PSG.

For Liverpool, Diaz makes way for Gakpo.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:08 , George Flood

100 mins: Plenty of possession for Liverpool at the moment as they patiently await another opening.

Cody Gakpo’s introduction off the bench is imminent.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:05 , George Flood

96 mins: Better from Liverpool as Salah forces a corner on the far side.

Donnarumma comes flying out to meet it with yet another punch.

In fairness, that one was excellent with Jones about to win the header.

Salah’s disappointing return ball is behind for a goal kick.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:03 , George Flood

94 mins: Alisson shouts and gestures at his defenders after Doue shoots just wide now.

Liverpool have made a very sluggish start to extra time and almost pay the price, twice.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 22:01 , George Flood

92 mins: The first chance in extra time falls to PSG as Beraldo gets up above Jones to steer his header just wide of the back post.

Luis Enrique shows his frustration on the touchline.

Great ball in from the left.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:59 , George Flood

Underway in extra time, which Slot will absolutely have not wanted ahead of Wembley.

Mac Allister has been replaced by Curtis Jones for Liverpool.

Also a change in the PSG midfield as Warren Zaire-Emery replaces Fabian Ruiz.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:55 , George Flood

End of 90 minutes

A strong second half for Liverpool with so many chances created - will they live to regret not taking one?

Alexander-Arnold’s injury also a massive concern ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Newcastle at Wembley.

An additional 30 minutes on the way...

(Liverpool FC via Getty Images)

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:54 , George Flood

95 mins: Lucas Beraldo is on for PSG captain Marquinhos and heads Mac Allister’s last-gasp corner delivery high into the air.

Donnarumma then punches again under pressure from Quansah, who gives away a free-kick.

That’ll be that. We will have extra time at Anfield.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:52 , George Flood

94 mins: Plenty of late pressing still from Liverpool but they are just lacking the necessary quality with the final ball.

But then a fine Robertson cross towards Salah at the back post is headed behind!

A last-gasp corner for the Reds...

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:50 , George Flood

93 mins: Mac Allister is booked for bringing down Dembele - he will miss the first leg of the quarter-final if Liverpool get through.

Kvaratskhelia with a free-kick in a threatening position but he drives it into the wall.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:48 , George Flood

89 mins: Fine defending from Liverpool to firmly shut the door on PSG with stoppage time looming.

Five minutes added on.

Can anyone make themselves a hero to avoid extra time?

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:45 , George Flood

86 mins: Finally PSG wake up in this otherwise one-sided second half, the ever-dangerous Kvaratskhelia curling agonisingly wide of the back post with Alisson at full stretch.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:43 , George Flood

83 mins: It’s all Liverpool still and Donnarumma is passionately trying to rally his defenders as Mac Allister now earns a corner.

He punches from the corner before Diaz slices a volley well wide.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:41 , George Flood

80 mins: Into the last 10 minutes of the 90 at Anfield - is extra time beckoning?

A couple of frustrating miscommunications have thwarted promising Liverpool attacks in the last few minutes.

Nunez is then unlucky with the flag up once more.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:38 , George Flood

78 mins: Doue’s foul on Diaz gives Liverpool a free-kick in a dangerous position out left.

Robertson’s superb delivery is headed low against the post by Quansah!

The flag is up. Who was offside there?

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:33 , George Flood

71 mins: A good impact from the Liverpool substitutes as the hosts force a corner and Quansah aims a free header off target at the near post.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:31 , George Flood

69 mins: This doesn’t look good for Alexander-Arnold, who went into a challenge on the far side but looked to extend his knee painfully.

He’s helped off the pitch and is now upright, but Jarell Quansah has been sent on in his place.

Darwin Nunez is also on for Jota in attack.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:28 , George Flood

67 mins: The first substitution of the night for PSG as Barcola makes way for Desire Doue.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:26

65 mins: Donnarumma went down for PSG a few moments ago but I think he was just trying to take the sting out of the Liverpool onslaught.

Liverpool appeal strongly for a penalty as Salah tumbles under the challenge of Nuno Mendes!

The referee waves play on - looked like it was outside the box anyway, but that was a foul and a booking you’d say.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:20 , George Flood

59 mins: Liverpool have got to take advantage of this period of dominance, surely!

More crucial blocks from Pacho and Kvaratskhelia, the latter denying Salah.

PSG are clinging on at the moment.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:17 , George Flood

56 mins: The chances are really piling up for Liverpool here, Pacho making a pivotal block to deny Szoboszlai.

Donnarumma acrobatically claws away a header from a corner from Diaz, who then dawdles over a good opportunity inside the box.

Massive encouragement for Liverpool.

Vitinha is now down receiving treatment for PSG.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:14 , George Flood

54 mins: Liverpool are turning up the intensity again now as Alexander-Arnold fires over Donnarumma’s crossbar.

Bit of a risky tackle from behind there from Mac Allister, who is one of the Liverpool players who is only one yellow card away from a one-match ban.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:13 , George Flood

52 mins: GOOAA... NO!

Anfield erupts after Szoboszlai turns home inside the box after a wild sequence, but the offside flag is very belatedly raised.

Alexander-Arnold had a shot parried and he also hit the post there before racing to collect the rebound near the byline and laying across for Szoboszlai to finish.

That went on for so long, the offside was at the very start of the move - I think against Diaz.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:07 , George Flood

49 mins: A combative start to this second half with plenty of challenges flying in and no space really for anyone to work in so far for either side.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:05

46 mins: Marquinhos pulls down Diaz and receives the first yellow card of the night.

It’s his third of the competition so far this season and means the captain would miss the first leg of a quarter-final tie if PSG were to advance tonight.

Cautions are not wiped until after the last-eight stage.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 21:03 , George Flood

Back underway for a massive second half at Anfield, no changes from Arne Slot or Luis Enrique just yet.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:54 , George Flood

So all square at the break at Anfield thanks to the prolific Ousmane Dembele’s 12th-minute tap-in against the run of play.

Both sides have had their chances, but you’d say PSG have looked the more dangerous overall and more likely to add to their lead.

It’s all set up for a monster second half. Extra time and penalties will follow if these two heavyweights can’t be separated.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:48

Half-time

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:47 , George Flood

45 mins: The respective No8s clash as Fabian Ruiz challenges Szoboszlai just inside the box.

Liverpool scream for a penalty, but it was a bit of a delayed fall from the Hungarian after the initial contact was made and play is waved on.

Just the one minute of added time signalled at the end of the first half.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:45

43 mins: Both sides lacking quality in the final third in the last couple of minutes, while a ball intended for Nuno Mendes now sails straight out of play on the near side.

Half-time is fast approaching with this tie so deliciously poised.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:43 , George Flood

40 mins: Another important Liverpool block, this time from Mac Allister as Dembele’s effort drifts wide of the back post with Alisson at full stretch.

The Frenchman has been a constant thorn in the side for Slot’s team during this absorbing first half.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:41 , George Flood

38 mins: Slot will be concerned by how easily his side have been torn apart at times so far tonight.

This time PSG come through the middle and a tamer effort from Kvaratskhelia is easily held by Alisson.

Great reading of the game from Marquinhos to deal with a dangerous ball into the box.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:37 , George Flood

35 mins: PSG are so dangerous on the counter-attack here as Dembele pulls back from the byline for Kvaratskhelia, whose bending effort is crucially deflected over by Gravenberch.

Liverpool quickly clear the corner and break with numbers, but Salah is dispossessed inside the box.

I think the offside flag was up in the end anyway.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:35 , George Flood

33 mins: Jota drifts menacingly across the box for Liverpool before firing over the top.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:34 , George Flood

32 mins: The Reds are back on the offensive, Alexander-Arnold’s lashed effort blocked before Nuno Mendes earns a pressure-relieving free-kick from Salah next to the byline.

A fine first half so far for the Portuguese.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:33 , George Flood

30 mins: A good little battle going on between Mac Allister and Kvaratskhelia as the latter makes a crunching challenge.

PSG have twice now been one more final ball away from likely doubling their lead, this time a heavy touch from Dembele allows a relieved Alisson to gather.

Liverpool living too dangerously at times.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:31 , George Flood

28 mins: Salah gets free in the right channel and unleashes a cross that is parried by Donnarumma and hacked away.

Liverpool keep the pressure on but the Italian goalkeeper eventually alleviates the danger.

It’s all gone a bit quiet across all sides of Anfield.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:28

25 mins: Nuno Mendes sails a cross over everyone at one end before Donnarumma thwarts Liverpool’s latest attack at the other.

Van Dijk is currently in animated discussion about something with Romanian referee Istvan Kovacs.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:27 , George Flood

Here is that opening goal from Ousmane Dembele, his 29th of the season across all competitions.

A bit of a horror show for Liverpool. You have to feel for Konate, though PSG fans won’t after that first-leg barge on Barcola that he got away with in Paris...

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:24 , George Flood

20 mins: Pressure at both ends but PSG overrun it as they look to build on their momentum.

Feels like there are plenty more goals to come in this one...

(Martin Rickett/PA Wire)

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:20 , George Flood

17 mins: Another chance for Liverpool from that corner but Jota’s header is over the bar.

PSG’s marking from set-pieces so far has left a lot to be desired, between that and Van Dijk’s free header that was crucially blocked by Nuno Mendes.

Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1)

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:18

16 mins: Liverpool are trying to hit back immediately at Anfield as Diaz shoots over and Mac Allister tries his luck before a big punch from Donnarumma.

At the other end Alisson comes out to make a big save to deny Barcola!

End-to-end stuff on Merseyside at the moment.

Liverpool suddenly look very sloppy in midfield.

They have another corner.

GOAL! Liverpool 0-1 PSG (agg 1-1) | Ousmane Dembele 12'

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:14 , George Flood

12 mins: PSG take a shock early lead against the run of play!

Liverpool are too lax in the middle of the park and Dembele feeds Barcola before going for the return ball inside the box.

Konate slides to try and cut it out but ends up playing it beyond the grasp of Alisson, leading to an easy finish for Dembele.

Level in the tie. Wow!

Liverpool 0-0 PSG

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:13 , George Flood

9 mins: Still the early Liverpool chances come as they force a corner, Nuno Mendes blocking Van Dijk’s free header before Szoboszlai then volleys into The Kop.

Liverpool 0-0 PSG

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:09 , George Flood

7 mins: Another big early chance for Salah as he catches PSG in possession and streams down the right flank before playing a neat one-two in the box and then bending a shot wide of the far post.

A great start this from Liverpool, they are pressing brilliantly and forcing errors while creating early chances.

A needless risk from Donnarumma almost lands PSG in trouble.

Liverpool 0-0 PSG

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:06 , George Flood

6 mins: What a vital block from Nuno Mendes to deny Salah a certain goal at the back post after Mac Allister had teed up the Egyptian inside the box rather than shooting himself.

Donnarumma celebrates with the Portuguese left-back.

Liverpool could already be ahead!

Liverpool 0-0 PSG

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:05

4 mins: A hasty sliced clearance out for a corner by Robertson, with a flicked effort from Vitinha then easily held by Alisson.

The offside flag is up.

Liverpool 0-0 PSG

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:04 , George Flood

2 mins: A tough start to proceedings for Hakimi as he’s almost caught out in a dangerous area by Salah.

At the other end, Alisson comes out of his box to sweep up.

Liverpool vs PSG

Tuesday 11 March 2025 20:02 , George Flood

Here we go!

Feisty straight from the off with a meaty challenge from Jota on Hakimi.

This is going to be spicy...

Champions League anthem drowned out

Tuesday 11 March 2025 19:58 , George Flood

“Let’s go boys, come on” is the roar of Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk before the two teams emerge from the tunnel at a bouncing Anfield.

They line up for the famous Champions League anthem, which may well be drowned out.

Indeed, you can’t hear it at all over the deafening boos and whistles!

Sure Uefa will be thrilled with that...

PSG warm-up delayed

Tuesday 11 March 2025 19:35

PSG were about 15 minutes late out to warm-up to the whistles at Anfield, per the television broadcast.

But they did arrive at the ground on time, apparently.

Not sure that counts as early mind games from Luis Enrique really, does it?

All eyes on VAR after Ibrahima Konate controversy

Tuesday 11 March 2025 19:33 , George Flood

Will we have any further officiating controversies tonight?

A major talking point from the dramatic first leg in Paris last week was Ibrahima Konate getting away with a barge in the back of France team-mate Bradley Barcola that could easily have seen him sent off.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also had an early goal chalked off for a marginal offside call.

PSG were left raging at the Konate decision, with tunnel footage showing advisor Luis Campos raging at Italian referee Davide Massa at half-time, leading to a withering retort from Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk.

Romanian Istvan Kovacs is the man in the middle tonight, supported by Germany’s Bastian Dankert on VAR duty.

PSG also unchanged as rested stars return

Tuesday 11 March 2025 19:10

PSG are also unchanged from the first leg, with Marquinhos back to captain the side in defence after being rested completely for Saturday’s typically dominant 4-1 win at Rennes in Ligue 1.

Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele are also restored to the starting XI after being named on the bench at the weekend.

So Arne Slot names the same starting XI as in Paris last week, with Andy Robertson, Alexis Mac Allister and Diogo Jota all back in the team after beginning on the bench against Southampton on Saturday.

Kostas Tsimikas and Curtis Jones both drop to the bench along with Darwin Nunez, who loses out to Jota again in the battle to lead the line.

Cody Gakpo is among the substitutes as expected on his return from injury, taking the place of teenage midfielder Trey Nyoni.

Luis Enrique urges PSG to channel emotions at 'historic' Anfield

Tuesday 11 March 2025 18:33

Liverpool’s general record across all competitions this season is of course formidable, losing narrowly only to high-flying Nottingham Forest in an Anfield shock in the Premier League back in September, at Championship strugglers Plymouth in a sizeable FA Cup upset last month and in their final Champions League league phase match against PSV Eindhoven in January when progress was already secured.

Those are their only losses of a remarkable first campaign in charge for Jurgen Klopp’s successor Arne Slot that could yet end with three major trophies, the first of which is up for grabs in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle at Wembley on Sunday.

Despite that imperious home run, Luis Enrique believes his PSG players will be more motivated than scared by the sense of the occasion at Anfield as he urged them to channel their inevitable emotions in the right way.

"I am pretty convinced that absolutely every single one of my players will want to play," the Spaniard said.

"We know what Liverpool means with a historic stadium and a wonderful history.

“It's a huge source of motivation for the players and we want to show we are capable of putting in a performance.

"It is difficult to manage one's emotions and feelings, these are not easy games to prepare for and it is not easy to be at 100 per cent.

"But you don't want to be at 105 or 110 per cent because you could get carried away so you have to manage your emotions in the best possible way."

Luis Enrique backs Liverpool vs PSG winner to reach final

Tuesday 11 March 2025 18:18 , George Flood

Luis Enrique described last week’s agonising late defeat in which PSG registered 27 total shots (10 on target) to Liverpool’s two (one on target) and dominated possession to the tune of 70.4 per cent as “unfair” and an “injustice”.

He seems confident in his side’s ability to overturn the deficit at Anfield tonight and believes the winner of the heavyweight tie will go on to reach the Champions League final in Munich on May 31.

"The most important game is the one which comes next and I hope it (the most important game) will be the last one of the season," he said.

"Even though we're trailing from the first leg we will be playing our own game from the outset. Regardless of the result (in Paris) we wouldn't do anything different.

"At the moment we are out so our only option is to go out and win and that is what is driving us.

"I don't think Arne Slot has much doubts about our starting XI, I've got my ideas about his starting XI as well.

"I'm not going to give away who we are going to play or how we are going to play but over the course of two games we will see two of the best teams in Europe, two contenders for the final and whoever goes through will go through to the final."

Arne Slot hits back over claims Arsenal and Bayern 'better than Liverpool'

Tuesday 11 March 2025 18:07 , George Flood

A lot of the pre-match headlines have centred around an apparent feeling in the PSG ranks that Arsenal and Bayern Munich were both better against them this season (both beating them at home) than Liverpool, despite the latter’s dramatic win in Paris.

However, Arne Slot believes it is more to do with the reigning French champions having significantly improved themselves over recent months after some uncharacteristic early-season wobbles.

"Some of them have said Arsenal and Bayern Munich were better than us. That is what I have heard," said the Dutchman.

"I think what that has to do with is how PSG improved a lot in the two to three months since they played at Arsenal and Bayern.

"At Arsenal they were lower, waiting much more and now they just press all over the pitch and take the risk of one-v-one constantly.

"I cannot influence what they felt - and don't even know if it is true or not - but I'm hoping they have a different opinion after (Tuesday)."

Arne Slot fires Liverpool warning as wounded PSG seek revenge

Tuesday 11 March 2025 17:58 , George Flood

Arne Slot insisted at yesterday’s pre-match press conference that Liverpool would likely need their best performance of his short successful reign so far in order to complete the job against PSG tonight.

He also insisted that his side would not be content to try and hold their narrow lead and try and play for a draw.

"Is there a difference (leading 1-0)? No. We try to play every game to try to win," he said.

"That is also what we tried to do last week, it wasn't our intention to be so low (deep) all the time.

"(On Tuesday) we want to play a different game, the intention is always the same - we are not going to go for a draw.

"At Manchester City away that wasn't the situation, at PSG that wasn't the situation. But we do take confidence from our home game against City where we did have the ball much more and it was much more of an equal game.

“This is the most complete team we have faced so far.

"We have faced Arsenal and City and they are not big margins but the intensity they (PSG) play at combined with the quality - and they are one of the richest clubs - and a great manager it is not easy to play against."

Liverpool vs PSG prediction

Tuesday 11 March 2025 17:47

PSG certainly have reasons to believe they can cause Liverpool problems, having done so all too often in the first leg.

Still, their lack of goal-scoring touch is a worry and the fact the game comes under the lights at Anfield is a further complication.

At home, the Reds have to be favourites.

PSG team news

Luis Enrique looks to have the luxury of a fully-fit squad to choose from tonight as PSG plot their quick revenge at Anfield, with no injuries, lingering doubts or suspensions to speak of.

Ousmane Dembele came off the bench to score twice in stoppage time of a heavy 4-1 win at Rennes in Ligue 1 on Saturday, but will surely return to the starting lineup tonight along with the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Influential captain Marquinhos didn’t even make the trip to Brittany as teenage midfield star Warren Zaire-Emery took the armband instead.

Liverpool team news

Liverpool have been handed a timely injury boost ahead of tonight’s game with Cody Gakpo back available after struggling recently with a recurring ankle problem and missing the first leg in Paris, as well as the 3-1 comeback win over bottom club Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Reds boss Arne Slot said the Dutch forward was in contention, but only resumed training at Kirkby on Monday so seems most likely to be on the bench here.

Diogo Jota seems likely to lead the attack again supported by Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz and Dominik Szoboszlai, though Darwin Nunez has been stating his starting case of late by teeing up the dramatic winner for fellow substitute Harvey Elliott last week and then both scoring and earning a penalty at Anfield on Saturday.

Defenders Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez both remain out due to injury, as does young midfielder Tyler Morton.

Slot could not rotate as much as PSG counterpart Luis Enrique over the weekend, but the likes of Andy Robertson, Alexis Mac Allister and Jota all played bit-part roles against the Saints and will expect to be restored to the starting XI this evening.

One of those famous European nights awaits at Anfield as Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain get ready to contest their massive Champions League last-16 second-leg decider.

The Reds somehow lead this blockbuster tie between the domestic champions-elect of England and France 1-0 after last week’s stunning late smash-and-grab win at the Parc des Princes, where PSG were absolutely dominant and registered 27 total shots but found Alisson in absolutely inspired form before substitute Harvey Elliott then scored with his first touch three minutes from time.

Despite the euphoria of that snatched last-gasp win in Paris, Arne Slot will know that his side need to significantly raise their levels this evening in order to see off an expected fightback from Luis Enrique’s wounded team, who are not used to losing and will fancy their chances of overturning the deficit.

Aston Villa likely await the winners of this tie, with Unai Emery’s side holding a commanding 3-1 lead over Club Brugge ahead of their second leg at Villa Park tomorrow night.

Kick-off tonight is at 8pm GMT, so stay tuned to Standard Sport for live updates throughout - with build-up and all the latest team news coming first.
