Liverpool Vs Ipswich Preview, Prediction, Team News, Lineups

Here at Sportscasting, we have the Liverpool vs Ipswich preview, prediction, latest team news and predicted lineups ahead of Saturday’s clash.

Liverpool Vs Ipswich Preview

The Liverpool juggernaut has regained momentum over the last week after undergoing a minor blip at the start of the New Year.

Arne Slot’s aspirations of winning the Premier League title were boosted after the fine 2-0 away win vs Brentford on GW22.

An injury-time brace from Darwin Nunez secured all three points in west London. Arsenal’s slip up against Aston Villa means the Reds have a healthy six point lead at the top of the table.

On Tuesday, the Merseysiders made it seven wins from seven in the new look UEFA Champions League format. Mo Salah and Harvey Elliott netted in the 2-1 victory over Lille.

With qualification to the last 16 locked-in, Slot’s side can resume their assault to become English champions. At Anfield, the Reds have only tasted defeat once all season.

Ipswich will still be feeling the carnage of their 6-0 spanking by Manchester City last time out. The Tractor Boys quest certainly doesn’t get any easier on GW23.

In the reverse fixture on the opening day, Kieran McKenna’s side were beaten 2-0 at Portman Road. Salah and Diogo Jota netted in Suffolk.

Their last Premier League outing at Anfield ended in a 5-0 drubbing in the 2001/02 season. A year previous, the Blues picked up a famous 1-0 win thanks to a Marcus Stewart strike.

It would take a miracle for a repeat of such a scoreline but stranger things have happened. However, leaving Merseyside without another hefty defeat will be the main priority.

According to the best football betting sites in the UK, Liverpool are priced at 22/1 to record a 6-0 win against Ipswich.

Liverpool Vs Ipswich Team News

2022 FIFA World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister is expected to regain his place in the Liverpool starting XI. The Argentine star came on as a half-time sub against Lille.

The 27-year-old will be a like-for-like replacement for Curtis Jones. The England midfielder is an injury doubt after coming off against the Ligue 1 side.

Diogo Jota and Joe Gomez are definately ruled out. Cody Gakpo was an unused sub during the week and he’ll likely come back in to the starting lineup.

Meanwhile, Ipswich have Kalvin Phillips available again. The defensive midfielder missed the 6-0 drubbing to Man City owing to the terms of his loan deal.

On the injury front, Sammie Szmodics, Conor Chaplin and Chiedozie Ogbene will all miss the trip to Anfield. However, Axel Tuanzebe and George Hirst are available again and the latter will likely start on the bench.

January signing Jaden Philogene is in line to earn his first start. Brighton forward Julio Enciso joined on loan on Thursday and is set to feature on Merseyside.

Liverpool Vs Ipswich Predicted Lineups

Liverpool (4-5-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Chiesa; Gakpo

Ipswich (4-2-3-1): Walton; Tuanzebe, O’Shea, Greaves, Davis; Phillips, Cajuste; Johnson, Hutchinson, Philogene; Delap

Liverpool Vs Ipswich Prediction

The Liverpool vs Ipswich stats strongly indicate a home win and it’s hard to envisage anything else at Anfield. Arne Slot’s side have rediscovered their rhythm and will be far too hot to handle.

Especially as the Tractor Boys head to Merseyside off of the back of a demoralising 6-0 defeat to faltering champions Manchester City.

It feels like it’s purely a case of how many goals the leaders will bag on Saturday.

Prediction: Liverpool 5-1 Ipswich
