Liverpool urged to sign Mason Mount and N'Golo Kante in 'incredible' Chelsea transfer swoop

Liverpool have been encouraged to sign Mason Mount and N'Golo Kante as part of an 'incredible' Chelsea transfer summer raid. The pair face increasingly uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge amid respective contract disputes.

Mount entered the final two years of his contract with the west Londoners this season, and with Todd Boehly eager to build a stable future, the Blues are eager to secure the midfielder's future. According to The Telegraph, there is an expectation that the Cobham graduate will pen a new deal, but 'it could take time'.

It's said that talks between the two parties began over the summer, and there is no agreement as of yet. The report adds that other attacking midfielder options have been considered by Chelsea as the club continue to make wholesale changes on and off the pitch.

With regard to Kante, he is set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season once his deal expires in June. The 31-year-old will be free to begin pre-contract talks with clubs outside of the Premier League in January in order to secure a move upon the end of his Blues contract.

The west Londoners can extend his stay at Stamford Bridge at any time, subject to the France international agreeing to an extension. As it stands, Chelsea could either recuperate a small fee in January and relinquish Kante's services for the remainder of the campaign or let him leave free of charge at the end of the season.

With a verdict yet to be reached, former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Friedel has urged Jurgen Klopp to recruit the two Blues stars. Speaking to Betway, as quoted by the Metro, he said: "Mason Mount is an exceptional player, but the only time it would be a no-brainer for Jurgen Klopp is if it works financially for Chelsea and Liverpool.

"The player has to want to make the move, and the rumour that Klopp wants him has to be true. I think these moves for players, as good as Mount is, only work if everyone is in agreement for it. But it's clear he's a very good player, and he'd be a good signing for Liverpool."

Friedel added by explaining how Liverpool signing Kante can save the club a large amount of money. The former United States international said: "I know deals for Frenkie de Jong and Jude Bellingham may be in talks, but if a player like N'Golo Kante comes along on a free, then he's going to have to play.

"Kante is really good, there have been some injury issues, sure, but he's outstanding. Klopp knows better than me, but I think Kante will have a lot of interested clubs, and he'd be an incredible signing for any of them, including Liverpool."
