Leeds United have been heavily linked with a move for Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Brenden Aaronson this month.
The Whites launched an improved £20m offer for the 21-year-old last week as Marcelo Bielsa aims to strengthen his squad ahead of the remainder of the season.
However, Aaronson has joined up with USA for three World Cup qualifiers over the two weeks, which could make a deal hard to come by before January 31.
Leeds are still persisting with their interest and hope to complete a deal in the current transfer window as Aaronson looks to become the sixth Salzburg player to directly move to the Premier League since 2011.
Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita and Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Hwang Hee-Chan are former Salzburg stars, but they both joined RB Leipzig first.
Leeds Live have taken a look at the last five players to move from Salzburg to England's top tier within the past decade.
Gerhard Tremmel
An experienced goalkeeper, Tremmel moved to Swansea City following their promotion to the Premier League to provide back-up for Netherlands international Michel Vorm.
Despite spending six years at the Liberty Stadium, the German stopper made just 49 appearances and has since re-joined the Swans as a scout after retiring from football in 2017.
Sadio Mane
After handing in a transfer request in August 2014, Mane made the switch to Southampton from Salzburg in a £11.4million deal and he quickly established himself as a fans' favourite at St Mary's Stadium.
In his two seasons at the club, the Senegal forward scored 25 times in 75 matches before joining Liverpool on a five-year deal at the end of the 2015/16 campaign.
Mane has since become one of Europe's best attackers, helping the Reds to win the Premier League and the Champions League, netting over 100 goals in the process.
Takumi Minamino
A Japan international, Minamino made the move to Liverpool after impressing against Jurgen Klopp's side in the Champions League group stage, scoring in a 4-3 defeat at Anfield.
The 27-year-old, who spent the second half of the 2020/21 season at Southampton, has struggled for regular game time at the Reds, netting 10 times in 49 matches.
Enock Mwepu
Having helped Salzburg to the Austria Bundesliga title last season, Mwepu's impressive form attracted plenty of attention but it was Brighton & Hove Albion who won the race for his signature.
Mwepu has been in and out of the Seagulls side this term and scored his first goal for the club in the Carabao Cup penalty shoot-out defeat at Leicester City back in October.
Patson Daka
A clinical finisher, Daka's goal record for Salzburg was nothing short of exceptional, having struck 34 times in 42 appearances throughout the 2020/21 season.
Leicester managed to pick up the highly-rated Zambian forward in the summer and he has carried on a similar vein of form, grabbing nine goals in 19 matches in all competitions.
