Who?
Jobe Bellingham.
Where?
The Mirror.
What?
Liverpool are being touted as early favourites to sign Jude Bellingham’s brother Jobe from Birmingham City. The younger Bellingham is 16 and is seen as the next star to emerge from Birmingham’s academy set up. The attacking midfielder has made three appearances for the Championship side which included a 30 minute run-out during their final day defeat to Blackburn.
The Reds have asked to be kept informed of the youngster’s situation at Birmingham, with Premier League clubs put on alert, according to The Mirror. Bellingham has been offered a scholarship by the Championship outfit but is free to sign with other clubs from next season. His club side, who finished 20th in a disappointing campaign, are fighting to keep hold of him and are rumoured to have offered him assurances over his future development. Liverpool will reportedly face competition from several clubs for his signature including Manchester City and Newcastle.
If he were to sign, it would be part of Jurgen Klopp’s wider strategy to bring talented youngsters to Anfield. He would be joining a number of other young stars who the Reds have signed from Championship clubs over the past few years including incoming Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliot, both from Fulham, and Kaide Gordon from Derby County.
Who?
Eddie Nketiah.
Where?
90min.
What?
Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has been linked with numerous clubs as his Arsenal contract expires at the end of this season but Liverpool are rumoured to have emerged as a possible destination, according to 90min. The Englishman is widely expected to leave the Emirates at the end of the campaign, but has recently displaced Alexandre Lacazette in the starting line-up and has scored four goals in six Premier League appearances as the Gunners chase Champions League qualification.
Arsenal are still hopeful that he will sign a new long-term deal, with the striker having been at the club since 2015 after spending his formative years at Chelsea. Arteta has publicly stated that Nketiah remains an integral part of his plans, but reports say that it is looking increasingly likely that Nketiah will leave the club.
The striker, who has scored 16 goals in 17 caps for England under 21s, and is their all-time record goalscorer, has said that he is keen to explore all options available, with his priority to play regular first-team football. He has been linked with a whole host of clubs in the Premier League and across the continent including West Ham, Newcastle, Everton, Crystal Palace, Borussia Monchengladbach, Chelsea and now Liverpool.
At 22, Nketiah could provide attractive squad depth and another youthful option in the front line with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all set to be 30 going into next season.
Who?
Jude Bellingham.
Where?
The Times.
What?
Liverpool transfer target Jude Bellingham has confirmed he will not be leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer and said he ‘will be here next season and ready to go’, according to The Times.
The English midfielder has been linked to a number of major European clubs including the Reds and the ECHO understands that Bellingham is a player the Reds do admire. However, any possible move was always likely to come in 2023 because of the World Cup later this year and due to Erling Haaland's £51m switch from the Westfalenstadion to Manchester City.
The former Birmingham City prodigy has won 12 caps for England and will hope to have a big impact in Qatar later this year. But he confirmed the build-up to that tournament will be spent at Dortmund. “I will be here next season ready to go and really excited,” he told the Times earlier this week.
After the German side finished their campaign with a 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday, Bellingham further reaffirmed his plans for next season. He tweeted: “A good end to a season of many ups and downs. Once again, thank you for your incredible support. Can’t wait for the next one but first time to recover. All the best to the guys leaving the club, it was a pleasure.”
It remains to be seen, however, what the summer of 2023 could hold for Bellingham.
