Liverpool's season took yet another turn for the worse on Saturday following a dismal defeat away at Brighton.
The loss leaves Jurgen Klopp's men ninth in the Premier League table, seven points adrift of the Champions League qualification places. Cody Gakpo is the sole arrival at Anfield so far in this month's transfer window, with Klopp's squad in desperate need of a boost.
Midfield is Klopp's top priority, with reinforcements needed before the Reds even begin to think about their prospects of signing Jude Bellingham in the summer. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Liverpool transfer news.
Interest in Amrabat confirmed
Following his starring role in Morocco's run to the semi-finals of the World Cup, Sofyan Amrabat became a surprise target for Liverpool. The midfielder impressed in Qatar, with his displays in defensive midfield showing a taste of what the Reds are missing.
Though an official move has yet to materialise, the general manager of Ambrabat's current club Fiorentina has confirmed the Serie A side have fielded enquiries from interested suitors.
"The only thing I'm saying is that both are Fiorentina players, they play for Fiorentina and I'm happy that so many teams come knocking for them, but I can confirm that right now it's not easy to take away a player from Fiorentina," Joe Barone told Calciomercato of Amrabat and Nicolas Gonzalez.

Clarkson opens up on future
Liverpool youngster Leighton Clarkson has admitted he is unsure if he will be recalled from his loan at Aberdeen. Clubs such as QPR, Reading and West Brom are all interested in the midfielder, though he has not been told what the future holds for him.
“I don’t think about what’s going to happen in the future really. I just want to do my best for Aberdeen now. I’m getting that experience and playing men’s football. I just want to do as well as I can and see where that takes me," Clarkson told the Liverpool Echo.
“I’m really enjoying it. I’ve come to gain the experience I feel I needed at this club and in the Scottish league. I’m doing that so far, I’m enjoying my football. I want to keep going and try and win a trophy or help us win third place.”
Reds sent warning about "panic" buys
Former Liverpool star Don Hutchison has warned the Reds not to "panic" in the transfer window amid their interest in Amrabat. Hutchison believes Liverpool should avoid the midfielder, with better options availiable.
“They have to make sure they don’t panic . I have seen Amrabat at the World Cup. He had a brilliant World Cup for Morocco," Hutchison told ESPN.
"He hasn’t been that good for Fiorentina for 18 months, so you can’t just panic and look at these players and think ‘that’s the one I need’. Make sure you get the right one.”
