Newcastle ‘submit’ Fernandez bid
Liverpool have been put on red alert following reports that claim Newcastle are ‘suspected’ to be the unnamed club which made a bid for Benfica and Argentina midfielder Fernandez earlier this week.
The Reds have been strongly linked with a move for the World Cup’s Young Player of the Tournament as they aim to reboot their midfield over the next two transfer windows. However, Newcastle could now be their biggest challenger in trying to sign the midfielder, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola (via Football365 )
It is claimed that the Magpies could be the club who had a €100million (£88million) bid rejected by Benfica, with their rich owners making them the ‘main suspects’. Should this be true, then Liverpool could face a race against time before Newcastle dive deeper into their pockets.

Liverpool receive Moukoko boost
Liverpool have received a huge boost in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund sensation Youssoufa Moukoko following reports that his agent wants to bring him to the Premier League next summer.
The Reds have been linked with a move for the 18-year-old striker upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season, with there being no current agreement between the player and the Bundesliga club to renew terms, as things stand.
And according to a report from The Athletic, Moukoko’s agent is pushing to take the young forward to the Premier League before the start of the next season, although Liverpool will face competition from Newcastle once more.
Caicedo ‘keen’ on Liverpool move
Sought-after Brighton midfielder Caicedo would reportedly be open to a move to Liverpool in January according to the latest reports.
The Ecuador international has been a revelation since making his first team breakthrough with the Seagulls last season and his performances have attracted the attention of a number of top sides as a result. Liverpool have previously been linked with a move, but things could now progress if they were to submit a bid.
According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who spoke to Give Me Sport, Caicedo would be ‘open’ to a winter move away from the Seagulls and ‘interested’ in joining Liverpool if the Reds ‘firm up’ their interest in the January window.
