Liverpool transfer round-up: Reds defender expects exit and Tielemans offer 'prepared'

Liverpool kept their slim title hopes alive on Sunday as they eased past Brentford to win 3-0 at Anfield, despite being without both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah for the first time in over two years.

The games continue to rack up for Liverpool too, and they are preparing to book their place in the Carabao Cup final on Thursday before heading to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Liverpool may currently remain unbeaten without their African stars, but Klopp still may be tempted to persuade his bosses into making a signing this month, as he attempts to keep chase with Manchester City.

The Champions have a 10-point lead over Liverpool in second, and Klopp's men have been linked with an array of signings to help shorten the gap this month, and to build ahead of next season.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer talk from in and around Anfield...

Nat Phillips in demand

Nat Phillips has already been told he can leave Liverpool this month, and now PSV Eindhoven have reportedly made an approach for the defender, suggesting a January exit could be on the cards.

Phillips was excellent for Liverpool last season as Klopp was faced with a defensive crisis, but following the return of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, and the summer signing of Ibrahima Konate, he finds himself fifth choice.

Klopp will allow Phillips to leave for £12million this month according to Football Insider due to their depth in that position, and Eindhoven will now battle against West Ham to sign him.

Liverpool are in no rush to sell Phillips due to his lengthy contract, meaning that they will sit tight until their valuation is met.

Tielemans offer 'prepared'

Liverpool are still on the lookout for a new midfielder after Klopp decided against replacing Georginio Wijnaldum this summer, and the Reds are once again linked with Leicester City star Youri Tielemans.

Leicester are yet to extend Tielemans' stay at the King Power Stadium, and with his current deal expiring at the end of next season, it's been reported by El Nacional that Liverpool are prepared to make an offer to sign the midfielder next summer.

Should his head be turned, Leicester could look to cash in on their star man to avoid losing him on a free deal in 2023, although it will be a bitter pill to swallow for former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.

It's been claimed that Liverpool could make an offer of £33m next summer, but it's also been reported that Leicester would prefer to sell Tielemans to a team outside of the Premier League.

Harvey Elliott to return

It may not be a new signing, but it will definitely feel like one for Klopp as young star Harvey Elliott is set to return to first team training.

Elliott suffered a horror ankle injury during Liverpool's 3-0 win over Leeds back in October, but the 18-year-old has made an unexpected speedy recovery, and could be back in action very soon.

The youngster was given a series of starts by Klopp at the beginning of the Premier League season, and Elliott starred in an array of positions within the first team.

Especially at a time of need with Salah and Mane both out on international duty, his impact could be vital, although Klopp will be apprehensive to rush back his star.
