Liverpool have yet again experienced a nightmare with injuries at the start of the season and Jurgen Klopp’s patience is being tested as up to 10 players continue to nurse individual problems ahead of Monday night’s clash with Manchester United.
As a result of the long injury list, the Reds are being linked with a number of replacements and none more so than Villarreal’s Yeremy Pino, who Unai Emery has conceded could be sold this summer if the right offer is made. Elsewhere, Liverpool have been linked with a Championship midfielder, while Naby Keita’s contract issues hint towards an exit from the club.
Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest transfer stories coming out of Anfield…
Emery makes Pino admission
Villarreal hotshot Pino has attracted plenty of interest from some of Europe’s elite this summer after an impressive campaign for the Yellow Submarine last season as he helped them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, with Liverpool one of the clubs in question.
Villarreal remain keen on retaining his services this season, and manager Emery has conceded that he may have to be sold if a big offer comes in.
Speaking via Stadium Astro ahead of his team’s game against Hajduk Split on Wednesday night, Emery said: “What can affect us is that there may be unwanted exit movements. What harms (us) the most is something unforeseen; A significant clause payment or an offer a player considers very attractive.”

Reds eye Championship midfielder
With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out until the end of the year, as well as Curtis Jones and Thiago picking up injuries in recent weeks, Liverpool’s midfield options are looking slim and the Reds are therefore being linked with a number of players to provide them with more depth.
One of those is Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge, according to Sky Sports News, who say that Klopp has expressed interest in the Norway international in recent weeks, with Berge having previously been linked with a move to the Reds after impressing against them for Genk in the Champions League a few years ago.
The 24-year-old joined the Blades in 2020 for £22million and he has since gone on to make 70 appearances in all competitions, while he registered six goals and four assists for the club last season. He has quickly followed that up with two goals in four games already this campaign.
Naby Keita pushing for exit
Liverpool midfielder Keita could be the next to be on his way out of the club this summer after so far failing to agree on new contract terms with the Reds since negotiations were opened last month, with it being reported that things have since stalled.
And according to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Keita is unhappy at Liverpool with contract extension talks now ending and an exit from the club now “possible”, although the Reds are keen to keep him on their books for at least one more season due to squad depth.
However, Keita has fallen down the ranks at Anfield and is yet to feature this season after missing out through illness against Fulham and then being an unused substitute against Crystal Palace, with youngsters Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho preferred ahead of him so far.
