Liverpool transfer news as Eberechi Eze message sent to Jurgen Klopp and Sofyan Amrabat link resurfaces

The transfer window has only been open a matter of days but the rumour mill continues to swirl around Liverpool.

Liverpool already have one star name through the door, getting business done early to bring in World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion. However, Jurgen Klopp’s midfield rebuild is nowhere near finished and several names remain linked with the Reds.

As well as incomings, a surprise name is also rumoured to be a target for the Saudi Pro League - a destination which threatens to upset the footballing apple cart.

Here is a round-up of your daily Liverpool transfer rumours for Thursday, June 22.

Eberechi Eze

Reds legend John Barnes has urged his former club to sign Crystal Palace sensation Eberechi Eze. In the second half of 2022-23, the attacking midfielder turned on the heat to keep the Eagles in the Premier League.

An impressive 10 goals - his most in a top-flight season - earned Eze international recognition when England faced Malta last week. And there has been suggestions that Liverpool could pounce to sign Palace’s talisman this summer.

Barnes believes Klopp should make the 24-year-old a key target. He told MyBettingSites: "I love him. I think he’s a fantastic player. He’s an attacking midfield player with a good attitude.

"He can play one-touch, two-touch, dribble, pass and score goals. He’s a great player that could fit into any of the top teams in the country. I would absolutely love him at Liverpool."

Mohamed Salah

Hafez Al-Medlej, a director who has held several roles within the Saudi Pro League and Asian Football Confederation, has hinted at a possible move for Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah.

The Public Investment Fund, which own an 80 percent stake in Newcastle United and recently merged with the PGA Tour to monopolise golf, are attempting to make waves in the sporting world. Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 aims to diversify the Gulf state’s economy away from oil and are using sport as a vehicle for change.

Big-money superfights have been held in the region, most notably between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk, as well as Formula One. From a football context, an unprecedented amount of funds are being spent to attract superstars to the Pro League.

Cristiano Ronaldo was the first to take the plunge but Karim Benzema and several ex-Chelsea players have followed suit. Wolves main man Ruben Neves is on the brink of joining Al Hilal and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva may also be jumping ship.

Al-Medlej has suggested Salah - a player who would appeal to the Arab world due to his Islamic faith - is a potential target. He said: “We must also start working on the signing of Mohamed Salah since he is overwhelmingly popular in the Arab world and in Europe.

“I think Salah still has records to break with Liverpool, so I hope that if he doesn’t come now he will in the future.”

Sofyan Amrabat

Italian outlet FirenzeViola claim Liverpool want Fiorentina general Sofyan Amrabat. The Morrocan came to global attention at the World Cup, helping his nation reach the semi-final for the first time in their history.

Naturally, this led to transfer speculation but Amrabat stayed put in the January window. It is no secret that Klopp is hoping to freshen up his midfield further and Amrabat is valued at £35million.

The 26-year-old kept Declan Rice quiet in the Europa Conference League final despite finishing on the losing side. Another Italian publication, La Gazzetta Dello Sport, suggest Fiorentina need funds and are open to selling the midfielder.
