Liverpool 'track two Jude Bellingham alternatives' as Mason Mount transfer boost emerges

Here is your Liverpool morning digest for Sunday, November 27

Liverpool get Mason Mount boost

Liverpool-linked Mason Mount rejected a £200,000-per-week contract extension before jetting off to the World Cup, according to the Daily Mail .

Mount flew out with the rest of the 26-man England squad last week and has started both of their Group B matches against Iran and the USA. His time in Qatar has been somewhat overshadowed by talk of contract problems at his club, with the Guardian reporting last Thursday that the Reds and Juventus were monitoring the situation amid a stalling of negotiations.

The 23-year-old's current contract runs out in the summer of 2024 and a reluctance to sign a new deal with the Blues had set Liverpool on high alert as they explored the possibility of luring the midfielder away from his boyhood club, although no approaches had been made by either them or Juventus.

And now the Daily Mail reports that, prior to leaving for Qatar, the Chelsea academy graduate turned down a fresh and lucrative offer.

The last two seasons has seen Mount become one of the most important players at the club and he wants his salary to reflect that. Chelsea's £200,000 a week offer falls some way short of their top-earners, with Raheem Sterling thought to have signed a five-year contract worth £300,000-per-week over the summer.

Liverpool track two Jude Bellingham ‘alternatives’

Liverpool are reportedly one of three clubs who are still in the race to sign Jude Bellingham.

The Reds continue to be heavily linked with the signing of the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, who is becoming one of the most prized assets in Europe. Anfield insiders are well known to be admirers of the teenager, but it remains to be seen whether the player will move to Anfield.

As well as Liverpool, the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United have also been linked with Bellingham. Now an update has emerged from German media on the player's future.

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has claimed that Liverpool are one of three clubs who remain in the battle to sign Bellingham. He does add, though, that United are no longer in the running for the player’s signature.

Plettenberg claims that Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp are pushing hard to sign Bellingham, but not at any price due to Financial Fair Play reasons. A reported price of €150million (£128m) has been quoted as a potential price tag.

The report goes on to say that Liverpool are also looking at two unnamed players from South America as alternatives to Bellingham. It remains unclear who those may be - but as well as the 19-year-old England star, the Reds have also been linked with Brighton and Ecuador international Moises Caicedo and Benfica’s Argentinian star Enzo Fernandez in gossip columns.
