Former Chelsea star Tony Cascarino has explained why he thinks a lack of Champions League football won’t stop Liverpool from signing the players they want.
The Reds are facing an uphill battle to finish in the Premier League’s top four spots this term. Jurgen Klopp’s side are 10 points adrift of fourth place and have now played half of their league matches this term.
On the transfer front, the likes of Jude Bellingham, Matheus Nunes and Moises Caicedo are the three names who continue to be heavily linked with a move to Anfield. And the uncertainty over the club’s future in the Champions League has led to some doubts over whether players will want to sign for Liverpool.

However, Cascarino does not agree with that view. The former Chelsea star believes the loss of Sadio Mane and Gini Wijnaldum in recent years have hurt Liverpool, but still thinks the club will be able to attract the top players to the club because of Klopp.
“I think Klopp will be given certain funds to challenge and go and buy the players that I feel he needs,” Cascarino told Talksport.
“It’s come at a price, some of the players that Liverpool have let go. Mane has come at a price, Wijnaldum has, and I think there will be a slight wind of change at Liverpool into next season.
“Getting Diaz and Jota back adds more to the forward line. And yes, you are going to have injuries next season, that doesn’t mean you have an injury-free season because you don’t.
“So I’m optimistic about where they will be after this summer. Both clubs [Liverpool and Chelsea] will be in good positions to rub shoulders again with Man City, Man United, Arsenal.
“The top six are very powerful now.”
Cascarino added: “If you’ve loved what you’ve seen from Liverpool, you’re going to go ‘I want to pay for him [Klopp].
“Like people want to play for Pep [Guardiola] and Fergie and [Jose] Mourinho. You always have players that want to play for certain coaches. And certainly with Liverpool, there will be players that want to play for Klopp.”
