Liverpool told to target 'perfect' Mohamed Salah replacement

Liverpool have been urged to consider signing Leeds United winger Raphinha as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Jurgen Klopp's side are closing in on their second summer signing as Darwin Nunez edges closer to arriving at Anfield, although this is likely to result in Sadio Mane heading out of Anfield as interest from Bayern Munich remains. The German giants have already had two bids rejected, but are expected to return with a third offer this week.

All the talk in recent months had been over the future of Salah, who is now expected to remain at the club for the upcoming campaign despite continuing to be linked with a move away from Merseyside. The Egyptian last month confirmed his intention to stay put, although Gabriel Agbonlahor believes the Reds could be missing a trick by failing to cash in this summer.

The former Aston Villa forward is adamant Raphinha would serve as an ideal candidate to become the latest member of Liverpool's forward line, paving the way for Salah to seek pastures new as he approaches the end of his current contract.

“I think he [Raphinha] would be a good player for Liverpool,” Agbonglahor told FootballInsider. "His better football is on the right and that position is taken up by Salah. Would they think, ‘Salah can go then, we can get £30million, £40million with a year left on his contract’.

“I don’t see any top team not looking to sign Raphinha, I rate him that highly. He would be perfect for Liverpool but would Leeds want to sell him? Without him this season, they would have definitely gone down. They might not want to sell him and will they try and make him too expensive for clubs to afford?”

Recent reports have suggested the Whites will only listen to offers between £60million and £70million this summer as they look to keep hold of their star man. The Brazilian joined Leeds for a fee of £17m ahead of the 2020/21 season and reached double figures for goals in a struggling side last term.
