Ally McCoist believes Liverpool should have 'broken the bank' and signed either Jude Bellingham or Declan Rice to ease their midfield struggles.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Bellingham and are thought to be keen on making a move for the 19-year-old in the summer.
The Reds will face competition for Bellingham from the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea and Declan Rice could offer as an alternative for the Dortmund man.

The former Rangers star highlighted how Jurgen Klopp 's side still miss Gini Wijnaldum in the midfield after he left for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021.
McCoist told the Mail: "I think Liverpool should have broken the bank and got that deal done earlier. How long have you and I been speaking about looking at Liverpool's midfield?
"I know he's not had a good time in Paris but they've missed Wijnaldum as well. If somebody could get Bellingham and Rice, that's phenomenal. I've said for a long time."
