Liverpool will see sunny spells before Hurricane Ian will sweep an "area of low pressure" across the UK on Friday, bringing wetter and windier weather with it.
The latest Met Office forecast states the city will enjoy sunny intervals on Thursday (September 29), before the forecast changes to cloudy by lunchtime. There should be highs of 16C and lows of 11C, making for a mild day.
Friday (September 30) will see a cloudy start before heavy rain follows later in the day. According to the forecast, there is a 50% chance of rain at 10am, increasing to 90% by 11am, while the wind speed will peak at 24mph at 2pm.

The rain is forecast to continue until 6pm, when cloudier weather will see out the working week.
According to the Met Office, the jet stream, strengthened by warm tropical air pushed northwards by Hurricane Ian, will "sweep an area of low pressure across the UK" on Friday. Deputy Chief Meteorologist at the Met Office, Chris Almond, said; “This will bring a much wetter and windier spell than we’ve seen so far this autumn, but nothing that is unusual for the time of year.
“The fast-moving system will bring strong gale force winds, locally in excess of 60mph, and heavy rain into the northwest before pushing quickly southeast through the day. We could see some minor impacts, such as surface water flooding or minor wind damage, as well as some short-lived impacts on ferry crossings, especially in exposed areas of western Scotland and eastern areas of Northern Ireland.
"Later in the day, parts of southeast England could experience winds of around 55mph, which may impact the English Channel too.”
