Liverpool are set to take on Manchester United in a pre-season friendly in Bangkok this summer.
The two Premier League giants will meet at the Rajamangala Stadium in the Thai capital on July 12.
It will be the first match of Liverpool’s preseason tour of Southeast Asia, with the winner claiming the Bangkok Century Cup.
The game comes less than a month after the current season wraps up, with England scheduled to play Hungary in the Uefa Nations League on June 14.
Liverpool and United played one another in a preseason friendly in Michigan, USA, back in 2018, with more than 100,000 fans turning out to watch the Merseysiders win 4-1.
Premier League clubs’ preseason tours have been severely restricted in recent years because of the complications of coronavirus travel restrictions but this summer is expected to see the majority return to lucrative long-haul ventures.
“Pre-season tour is a vitally important time of year for our players to prepare for the upcoming season, and it provides a fantastic opportunity to meet with fans around the world,” said Liverpool’s commercial director Ben Latty.
“Since the start of the pandemic we’ve been unable to travel for pre-season and so we’re extremely excited to be able to visit our supporters globally once again and compete in games like ‘The Match’.
“This trip to Bangkok will be very special and we’re really looking forward to having as many of our supporters with us along the way.”
