Glen Johnson wouldn't be surprised to see Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp make a move for Timo Werner. The former Reds right-back believes Klopp would get the Chelsea forward "smiling again".
Liverpool were extensively linked with Werner when he was at RB Leipzig. But in the summer of 2020 they gave Chelsea a free run at signing the Germany international, who made the switch to Stamford Bridge after his £45m release clause was triggered.
After winning the Champions League in his first season in west London, Werner had to settle for a place on the bench for much of last season and his time at Thomas Tuchel's team seems to be coming to an end.

And when asked by if he thinks Anfield would be a good destination of choice for Werner, Johnson told bettingodds.com: "I think so. He's got a lot to offer. Just at Chelsea, from day one, he's looked super, super low on confidence.
"Maybe someone like Klopp would make him smile and enjoy his football. If that was the case then I think he’s got a lot to offer and the way that Liverpool play then he’s going to get a lot of goalscoring opportunities, he’s going to be fast on the break, so, yeah, it wouldn’t surprise me.
"I think a lot of people will be shocked, but I don't think it would actually surprise me. If Klopp can get him happy and smiling and confident then you're going to have a good player on your hands."
Werner scored only four goals in 21 Premier League games for Chelsea last season and could see his opportunities further limited with the arrival of former Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling, whose £50m move from Manchester City was confirmed last night.
