The champions' dramatic 3-2 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur has set up a big week for the Reds, who can turn the deficit into just three points with a win against Leeds United at Anfield on Wednesday before facing Chelsea in the Carabao Cup Final at Wembley on Sunday.
Competition for places has never been tougher, but that may not stop Jurgen Klopp from strengthening his squad in the summer.

West Ham United winger Bowen continues to impress in what has so far been a progressive season for the Hammers.
The 25-year-old is in sparkling form, having scored seven goals in his last eight appearances and 'transfer insider' Dean Jones claims that Liverpool's interest is serious.
As the ECHO has previously reported, Bowen has been on the Reds' radar for quite a while.
Now in his second campaign with the Hammers, Bowen has scored eight goals and provided 10 assists in the Premier League so far this season and scored 12 goals in all competitions.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool step up their interest and look to make a move in summer.

Teenager Endrick is one of the hottest properties in football right now with a host of clubs desperate to capture his signature.
The youngster might only be 15 but he is already big news at Brazilian side Palmeiras and has been compared to World Cup winning national legend Ronaldo.
Both Liverpool and Manchester City are reported to be tracking the hot prospect but they may have to wait a bit longer as Endrick has been playing down links with a move to Europe.
According to TNT Sports Brazil, he said: "I have to focus on Palmeiras, where I want to become an idol. I’m going to stay at Palmeiras for a long time; I think I can bring a lot of joy to the fans here."
Despite his claims to the contrary, a big-money Premier League offer may be to tempting for Endrick and his management team to turn down.

Croatian midfielder Brozovic played a key role in Inter Milan's Serie A triumph last season and is reported to have impressed Jurgen Klopp when the Liverpool and Inter met at the San Siro in the Champions League last week.
The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and looks unlikely to sign a new one with the Nerazzurri.
Barcelona had been considered to be his most likely destination, but despite his age, Spanish outlet Fichjes say that Liverpool is the club most interested in acquiring his services on a free transfer, as cover for Fabinho.
Brozovic will get to sample Anfield for himself on March 8, when the two sides meet again in the Champions League Round of 16 second leg.
