Sadio Mane has given an update on his fitness, following his injury scare during Senegal’s win over Cape Verde on Tuesday.
The Liverpool forward clashed heads with Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha in his country’s round of 16 tie at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Contending for a high ball, the pair collided just before the hour mark with Mane appearing to be unconscious after the incident, while the goalkeeper was shown a red card after receiving treatment.
However, Mane played on and opened the scoring moments later with a curling shot into the top corner, before going to ground while holding his head shortly after his goal had been given.

After being helped off the pitch by Senegal’s medical team, Mane met Vozinha in hospital where he was undergoing health checks and posted that he was “fine” on social media.
And ahead of Senegal’s quarter-final tie against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, the Liverpool man has posted a further update on his progress.
Pictured on an exercise bike, the 29-year-old wrote the caption: “Recovering”, while giving a thumbs up to the camera.
Despite suffering what looked to be a significant collision, ex-Reds midfielder Salif Diao has said he believes Mane will play in Senegal’s next match this weekend.
“I spoke to him yesterday just after he left the hospital and he said everything was clear,” he told Sky Sports on Wednesday.
“From what I understood he has been cleared by the doctors and should be okay for the next game.”
Mane’s Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah also remains in the competition, with Egypt set to face Morocco on Sunday.
