Liverpool star Mohamed Salah hits gym for intense 3am workout as Ramadan begins

With copious amounts of spare time on their hands, footballers have been forced to adapt their routines during lockdown and if you're Mohamed Salah, that includes working out at all hours.

The Liverpool star is renowned for displaying his physique when celebrating goals by taking off his shirt and it requires regular sessions for him to keep in shape.

But the 27-year-old, who like millions of Muslims has begun fasting following the start of Ramadan on Thursday, April 23, decided to head to the gym at the unusual time of 2.40am on Sunday morning.

While the majority of people were sleeping, the Egyptian was busy pumping iron in his home gym and posted a short clip of his progress on his Instagram story.

Due to fasting rules under Ramadan, it's likely Salah altered his schedule to allow himself to regain energy after fasting during the day.

Salah can be seen hanging from the top bar in the middle of his set of pull-ups, giving Liverpool fans an insight into just how dedicated their top goalscorer is to maintaining his fitness levels before the resumption of the Premier League season.

The forward hasn't been quite as prolific as he had been in his previous two seasons at Anfield but his tally of 16 goals in 26 league appearances would still be considered a solid return by his peers.
