Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has Egypt home burgled as police investigation 'ongoing'

Mohamed Salah's villa in Egypt was burgled at the weekend, according to reports in his homeland.

A relative of the Liverpool forward is said to have noticed a window open in the property on Saturday evening, prompting him to contact authorities over fears of a break-in.

His fears were later confirmed to be true, with Egyptian outlet Al-Ahram stating a force from the Cairo Investigation Department were soon on the scene to assess the state of the property.

Officials have since told the Associated Press cable TV receivers were stolen by those who gained access to the villa, which is situated 30 miles east of Cairo city centre.

The above article adds the burglars also attempted to take with them a cooking gas cylinder from the garden, which ultimately proved 'too heavy' for them to carry. The investigation into the robbery is described as 'ongoing' and no arrests have yet been made.

Salah was in action for Liverpool on the south coast on Saturday afternoon, sending a penalty off target as Jurgen Klopp's side fell to a damaging defeat to Bournemouth. This result has left the Reds six points off the Champions League places, with a game in hand on fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
