Liverpool star Alisson Becker makes Inter Milan transfer admission

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has admitted he could have joined Champions League rivals Inter Milan when he was 17.

Alisson accepted Liverpool had faced a tough opponent in the form of Inter on Wednesday evening, but credited his side's ruthless finishing for securing a 2-0 away win.

The in-form Brazilian produced a clean sheet at the San Siro, as Liverpool's rear guard kept Inter's offensive artillery at bay before nicking two goals at the other end in the final quarter of an hour.

Despite the positive result, Alisson recognised that his team will need to be at their best to secure a passage to the Champions League quarter-finals in the 2nd leg, before revealing how he could have easily ended up an Inter player himself before he finally landed with rivals AS Roma.

According to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, after the match he said: "Inter created various situations, but we were good at neutralizing every shot or cross they took. Then we took advantage of the opportunities we had.

"It was certainly a difficult match and the draw would have been fairer. Inter played a great game, the scoring we produced was cleaner and we put it in, which is the thing.

"In any case we have to be careful about the return to Anfield, Inter are a team full of strong players, they will come to Liverpool to fight.

"Am I close to Inter? Yes, that's right, I was also talking to my agent about it tonight. I was 17, but it eventually faded. In any case, I am delighted with the path I have made, always come on Rome!"

Alisson joined AS Roma from Brazilian side Internacional in July 2016 and was originally understudy to Wojciech Szczęsny.

He went on to make 37 appearances for Roma before joining Liverpool in July 2018 for £66.8milllion - then a world record fee for a goalkeeper.

He has since gone on to make 122 appearances for the Merseyside club, famously scoring one goal against West Bromwich Albion last season.
