We're all used to seeing the People's Postcode Lottery every day on TV, but many of us don't realise the ad's catchy song has some major links to Liverpool.
One of the most recognisable adverts on television features Judie McCourt, Danyl Johnson, Jeff Brazier and Matt Johnson visiting People's Postcode Lottery winners to present them with their cheques. While the presenters head to the recipient's address, the following lyrics play out: "Someone's knocking on the door, somebody's ringing the bell..."
But unknown to some, the song is written and sung by Liverpool's Paul McCartney and his band Wings. 'Let' Em In' featured on the 1976 album Wings at the Speed of Sound.

The song reached the top three in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. It can also be found on Paul McCartney 's 1987 compilation album, All the Best!.
However, the People's Postcode Lottery uses a cover of 'Let' Em In'. Billy Paul released his version in 1977 and substituted a list of notable African-American figures such as Malcolm X and Louis Armstrong in place of those named in the original.
The People's Postcode Lottery is a subscription lottery run by Postcode Lottery Limited. Players pay a minimum of £10 a month to play, and winning postcodes are announced daily.
