AS reported Liverpool were willing to part with £85 million in order to add the Uruguayan midfielder to their ranks, but the sale of Casemiro to Manchester United meant Madrid were unwilling to part with Valverde.
It is claimed Liverpool will try to sign Valverde again next summer with midfield additions needed at Anfield. Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham is among the names touted to be targeted by Klopp.
