Liverpool set for winter snow as forecasters share exact dates

Forecasters have shared the exact date they predict Liverpool will see its first snowfall of the winter, and we have a while to wait yet.

After October was one of the mildest on record, things are not set to get much cooler this week either. We can expect highs of 14C this week, though it is also forecast to be wet and windy.

The Met Office forecasts more showers and even storms across the UK as the month progresses, adding that temperatures will be "close to or a little above normal for this time of year".

For people who are keen to see some snow, however, there is some on the way, according to Accuweather. Its daily forecasts for Liverpool predict the first snowfall of winter will take place on December 20.

The forecast for this day predicts highs of 7C and lows of 3C, with "variable cloudiness; snow showers in the morning followed by a shower in spots in the afternoon".

Snow is due to fall again, its forecasters said, on December 23. People can expect highs of 9C and lows of 4C, with "rain and snow at all times".

Other parts of the UK can expect snow much sooner, but as Liverpool is both low-lying and close to the Irish Sea, temperatures here are likely to be warmer than average.
