Liverpool sent brutal 'fighting for top four' message as Jurgen Klopp told 'something isn’t right'

Liverpool could see themselves nine points off the pace at the top of the Premier League if Arsenal beat Manchester United at Old Trafford this afternoon, but the title is the least of their worries at the moment according to TalkSPORT's Gabby Agbonlahor.

With just nine points from a possible 18, Liverpool are far off title winning pace and could even struggle to land a place in the top four if form doesn't pick up quickly.

The likes of Tottenham and Arsenal have strengthened in the transfer window and will both be eyeing Liverpool as a team they can catch in the early stages of this campaign.

After the goalless draw at Goodison Park against Everton on Saturday afternoon, Agbonlahor was asked on TalkSPORT whether Jurgen Klopp 's side will struggle to fight for the title.

“100 per cent. This is not a battle for the title," said Agbonlahor, the Premier League player of the month for November 2017. “Liverpool, for me, are not fighting for the Premier League title this season.

“They are fighting to stay in the top four because Arsenal are on it. Spurs are on it. They know how to win games. They have that winning mentality. There is something missing in that side. That is the sort of game where you would rely on Mane to come up with some sort of brilliance and make a goal. Mane’s runs would open up more space for Salah.

“Salah doesn’t look like he’s going to score and that is not like Mo Salah. He has to come out wide and find space. The midfield didn’t work. They played Fabinho as a sitter and in front of him Elliott and Carvalho. It just didn’t work for me today.

“At the back, Robertson was dropped, Trent got taken off after 60 minutes. Something isn’t right with that defence with Liverpool and they are dropping too many points.”
