Liverpool's Roberto Firmino wanted for lucrative Middle East move on free transfer

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has emerged as a target for Dubai side Al-Nasr.

The Brazilian is out of contract at Liverpool in the summer, meaning he is free to negotiate a pre-contract with foreign clubs from next month. The Reds are talking to Firmino about extending his stay on Merseyside with boss Jurgen Klopp keen to keep him beyond his current deal.

But MirrorFootball understands Al-Nasr hope a lucrative offer against the fact he is no longer a regular starter for Liverpool could sway him into making the move to the Middle East. The Dubai-based team finished eighth in the ADNOC Pro League last season, and have began the current campaign well. Al-Nasr secured a 5-1 win over Dubai City in the Presidents Cup last weekend.

Firmino has been a major part of the success Liverpool have enjoyed these past few years but the arrivals of Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez in recent seasons has severely affected his playing time. Injuries and struggles for form have meant Firmino has featured more than Klopp would've liked him to this season, but he has performed.

The 31-year-old, who moved to Anfield from German side Hoffenheim seven-and-a-half years ago, has scored seven Premier League goals in 13 appearances this term. He has also grabbed a further two goals in the Champions League, while he has notched a further eight assists - something that has come accustom to Firmino's name.

However, Firmino was dealt a major below when it was confirmed he was left out of the Brazil squad for the World Cup despite striking more goals than the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Raphinha this season. Firmino has 55 caps to his name, netting 17 times but that wasn't enough for Tite to pick him.

Klopp spoke about Firmino's future back in November and admitted he is determined to keep the forward amid speculation surrounding his future. "Normal conversations [are] happening," the Liverpool manager confirmed. "So we will see what happens there."

When speaking about his failure to make the England squad. "It was a blow, definitely," the German added. "You couldn’t see it in training but definitely you could see, it was clear.

"It was a blow for me to be honest. So I am in between, I am happy we have Bobby for more time, but I think he deserves it, I think he deserves everything in the world to be 100 per cent honest. And it shows just how incredibly good and talented this Brazil squad is if you can leave a player like Bobby Firmino out, madness."
