Liverpool's Premier League fixtures compared to Champions League rivals after Newcastle draw and Man Utd win

Liverpool were handed a glimmer of hope in their hopes of breaking into the Champions League places as Rasmus Kristensen secured a 2-2 draw for Leeds United against Newcastle United

Luke Ayling opened the scoring as he fired into the roof of the net after reacting fastest to Nick Pope's reflex save from Robin Koch's header. Patrick Bamford was handed the opportunity to double the lead for Sam Allardyce's side after Joelinton tripped Junior Firpo.

However, the England shot-stopper guessed the right way to thwart the striker from the spot. Minutes later, Callum Wilson was presented a penalty of his own after a wild swipe in the box from Maximilian Wober gave Simon Hooper no option to award another spot-kick.

Joel Robles guessed the right way but the 31-year-old's effort has enough to nestle in the back of the net. A moment of madness from Firpo saw another penalty awarded to the Magpies in the second half with Wilson converting again.

Elland Road went into raptures once again, though, as Kristensen's deflected strike brought the sides level with 12 minutes remaining.

Newcastle remain third, but Manchester United are now level on points with them after they won 2-0 at home to Wolves.
