Liverpool lost yet more ground in the Premier League as they were denied a remarkable win against Brighton, with the visitors rescuing a 3-3 draw after their hosts had come back from 2-0 down.
Results elsewhere - namely Arsenal's 3-1 North London derby win over Tottenham - leave the Reds 11 points from the top of the table with a game in hand, and Jurgen Klopp's side can barely afford to drop any more points before the World Cup break in November if they are to challenge.
Liverpool have a crucial fortnight in their season coming up, with games against two potential title rivals to come in early October, and an unbelievably congested month is unlikely to get any easier. That level of congestion will be similar for all sides competing in Europe, and here's a look at Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham's next six fixtures, to see how they compare...

Liverpool's next six Premier League fixtures
Arsenal (A) - October 9
It is Arsenal who currently look like Manchester City's fiercest title rivals after bringing the outstanding Gabriel Jesus across from the Etihad over the summer.
The Brazilian scored in the 3-1 north London derby win over Tottenham at Saturday lunchtime, taking them top with seven wins from eight games.
Manchester City (H) - October 16
Hosting City at Anfield is no doubt one of the first fixtures everyone looked for from the start, and meetings between the two often produce fireworks.
Erling Haaland is looking unstoppable, with 11 goals in seven league games, but the Reds will hope a statement win against the reigning champions can kick them on.
West Ham (H) - October 19
Liverpool's second home game in quick succession will be against David Moyes' men, who haven't started this season with the same steady progress they finished the last one.
The Hammers lost at Everton prior to the international break and star man Jarrod Bowen is yet to hit the heights he did last term - they host Wolves in the Saturday evening kick-off.
Nottingham Forest (A) - October 22
The two sides met here in the FA Cup last season as the Reds went on to lift the trophy at Wembley. Forest will be fired up for this clash as Steve Cooper looks to find a settled side after signing almost a whole new squad in the summer.
Leeds United (H) - October 29
Leeds lost key men Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha in the summer, but have looked better for it, so far. They put in a fine performance when beating Chelsea 3-0 at Elland Road as they look like a side who won't be battling relegation this season - assuming they can keep Patrick Bamford fit and firing.
Tottenham (A) - November 6
Antonio Conte's side are looking every bit like top-four contenders without ever really setting the world alight so far. How much a crushing defeat at Arsenal effects them over the next few weeks and into the Reds clash remains to be seen, but the strict Italian manager will be keen to see a serious bounce back.
