Liverpool's next fixtures compared to Newcastle and Man United as Champions League battle goes on

Liverpool cruised to their seventh successive win thanks to a blockbuster strike from Trent Alexander-Arnold added to Curtis Jones' double.

The two Liverpudlians continued their impressive rise in recent months as they inspired the Reds to three points to keep the pressure on the top four. Again the gap between Jurgen Klopp's side and Manchester United was cut to one point after the Red Devils returned to winning ways with their 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Jones' quickfire first-half double knocked the wind out of the Foxes after a positive opening from Dean Smith's men. Leicester were looking to return to winning ways after their tepid 5-3 defeat away at Fulham last time out but their defeat to Liverpool further damaged hopes of remaining in the Premier League.

They remain in the bottom three, two points off safety meanwhile Liverpool continue to look up and test the resolve of United and the Magpies.

Both clubs in the top four have a game in hand over the Reds going into the closing stages of the top-flight campaign. They arguably have the easier run with two of their last three falling on home soil.

Erik ten Hag's side face both Chelsea and the Cottagers at Old Trafford after they travel to Bournemouth. Eddie Howe will be looking to finish his first full season strongly after initially taking over with the Toon Army rooted to the foot of the table.
