Liverpool claimed their first win after the World Cup with a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Boxing Day.
Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Stefan Bajcetic got the goals as the Reds boosted their chances of a top-four finish. Jurgen Klopp’s side are now five points adrift of the Champions League places with a game in hand on fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
Liverpool have now won their last three Premier League matches and they can close the gap to Spurs to two points with another win in their final match of 2022. That comes on Friday night at Anfield against Leicester City and their former boss Brendan Rodgers.
