Liverpool's hectic April fixture schedule confirmed after win at Nottingham Forest

Liverpool are set for a hugely exciting April after reaching the FA Cup semi-final with victory against Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon.

The win kept the Reds on course for an unprecedented quadruple having progressed to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals where they will meet Benfica. Jurgen Klopp's side are also in contention for the Premier League, meaning every match is must-win given the situation at the top of the table.

April sees Liverpool meet league leaders Man City near the start of the month as well as a Merseyside derby 14 days later. There is also a mouth-watering clash against Manchester United - and barely any time for the Carabao Cup champions to stop and take it all in.

Fate will now have the Reds and Man City meet again in the FA Cup semi-final. There are also league ties against relegation-threatened Watford and Newcastle United to book-end the month.

It remains to be seen whether an additional fixture will be added to the April schedule. Should the Reds get past Benfica, then the first leg of a potential Champions League semi-final would take place on 26/27 April, in between Everton and home and Newcastle away.

The FA Cup clash with City will be played on Saturday 16th or Sunday 17th. The former is arguably more likely at this stage, given that is when the Reds were scheduled to face Aston Villa in the league. United at home is pencilled in for the following Tuesday, making a Sunday cup tie difficult unless the game set for the 19th is pushed back.

Klopp's side have only lost once since since the turn of the year, a 1-0 defeat to Inter Milan. That result was in the second leg after winning the first 2-0. Their last loss in the league came against Leicester City on December 28. Since then, Liverpool have won nine league games on the bounce and will be looking to make it 10 when they welcome Watford on April 2nd.

April fixtures as it stands:

Sat 2nd - Watford (H), Premier League
Tue 5th - Benfica (A), Champions League
Sun 10th - Man City (A), Premier League
Wed 13th - Benfica (H), Champions League
Sat 16th/Sun 17th - Man City (N), FA Cup
Tue 19th - Man United (H), Premier League
Sun 24 - Everton (H), Premier League
Sat 30 - Newcastle (A), Premier League

*Possible Champions League semi-final on 26/27 April. Aston Villa in the Premier League was due to be played on Sat 16 and will now be rearranged.
