Liverpool's route to potential UEFA Champions League qualification has become even clearer following Newcastle United's defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League.
The Magpies were beaten 2-0 at St James' Park after goals from Martin Odegaard and a Fabian Schar own goal helped Mikel Arteta's side record victory on Tyneside.
Liverpool beat Brentford 1-0 at Anfield yesterday evening and are now just three points behind Eddie Howe's side, with the Reds having played a game more.

Newcastle's gap on Liverpool has shrunk further with only four and three games left to play respectively, with Jurgen Klopp's men set to face strugglers Leicester City at the King Power next Monday.
Manchester United sit in fifth position at present and can now leapfrog the Magpies into third place should they beat West Ham at the London Stadium later this evening.
The Reds' impressive form continues as the quest for Champions League qualification goes on and have now not lost in their Premier League in their last eight outings both home and away (W6 & D2).
