Liverpool have been forecasted to finish outside of the Champions League places by a leading European football supercomputer.
The Reds currently sit seventh in the Premier League table behind Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Newcastle United, who are all fighting for the final two Champions League qualification places. with Manchester City and Arsenal seemingly already having their place in Europe's premier competition all but confirmed from due to their runaway lead at top of the table.
Newcastle appeared to be the most likely side for Liverpool's men to catch. But the Magpies recorded a statement victory at St James' Park on Sunday afternoon as they thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 6-1 to leapfrog Man United into third.

It means with just seven games remaining of the season, four of which are on home soil, Jurgen Klopp's side will need to be faultless if they are to oversee a mammoth nine-point swing in their favour and secure a place in the Champions League for a seventh consecutive season.
But with tricky fixtures against West Ham United, Tottenham and Brentford all to come, it appear unlikely that the Reds will be competing for an elusive seventh European Cup in the 2023/24 season. That's according to the boffins at FiveThirtyEight, who have estimated the Reds to have just a 10 per cent chance of finishing in the Premier League's top-four.
The comprehensive database, which uses a wide range of metrics to calculate the probability of a team's final standing in their respective division, believes Man City, Arsenal, Newcastle and Man United will be England's four representatives in UEFA's showpiece competition next term.
Though the recent victories over Leeds United and Nottingham Forest have Liverpool down as favourites to qualify directly for the Europa League group stages, with FiveThirtyEight giving the Reds a 35 per cent chance of doing so.
FiveThirtyEight predicted top 10: 1 Man City (88 points), 2 Arsenal (85), 3 Newcastle (72), 4 Man United (72), 5 Liverpool (64), 6 Brighton (64), 7 Tottenham (61), 8 Aston Villa (59), 9 Brentford (52), 10 Fulham (52).
