The biggest food hall in Liverpool opens today inside the Metquarter.
GPO Liverpool brings a new wave of independent food and drink traders all under one roof.
The 11,000 square foot space pays homage to the building’s past as Liverpool’s General Post Office.
GPO will champion independent regional food talent and include a Japanese-Scandi mash up, Thai street food, quirky coffee blends and Instagrammable ice cream.

The site sits behind the Metquarter’s beautiful historic 19th century façade next to the Everyman Cinema, with open air seating facing onto the recently upgraded Victoria Street.
GPO Liverpool has created over 130 new jobs and is the brainchild of northern hospitality revolutionaries The Milestone Group, and Metquarter owners Queensberry.
The space is somewhere new in the city where people can dine with friends and choose dishes from different vendors.
The food hall includes a Grab & Go area where the GPO showcases local independent businesses from Liverpool. The quick-purchase station is ideal for lunchtime snacks and takeaway coffees.
Today’s launch completes the repurposing of Metquarter with GPO bringing new life to the building and surrounding area following a challenging period for retail and hospitality.
Matt Bigland, Founder and Director at The Milestone Group said: “After months of hard work, we’re thrilled to finally open the doors to the food hall and invite the city of Liverpool to enjoy the unique independent vendors on offer. GPO will be a hub for Liverpool’s emerging food hall scene and will showcase the best in up-and-coming food and drink talent in the heart of Liverpool City Centre.”
